Don't struggle with athlete's foot when you can use one of these 6 home remedies

If you've ever had to use a public shower or public pool, you've probably had the joy of picking up athlete's foot. It's a fungus that generally isn't serious but is highly irritating and uncomfortable.
Once you contract athlete's foot, getting rid of it can be a chore. If you don't get rid of it, you run the risk of passing the fungus onto others. Below are 6 home remedies that have been proven to work against that uncomfortable foot fungus.
1. Oleozon. WebMD recommends using Oleozon, a specific brand of sunflower oil, to combat athlete's foot. Apply the oil directly to your feet.
2. Garlic. If you don't mind the strong smell of garlic, Medical News Today says that using a garlic soak shows evidence of curing athlete's foot. Crush 3 to 4 cloves of garlic into a basin of warm water. Soak your feet for 30 minutes twice a day for one week.
3. Hydrogen peroxide and iodine. A lot of places recommend using hydrogen peroxide on athlete's foot. Medical News Today says that if you really want success, you need to use hydrogen peroxide and iodine together. Mix hydrogen peroxide and iodine together and then apply the solution with a cotton ball to the feet or soak your feet in the solution.
4. Bitter orange oil. Another WebMD recommendation is applying diluted bitter orange oil to the athlete's foot.
5. Tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial and anti-fungal. Healthline says to apply it topically to the fungus.
6. Baking soda. Make a baking soda foot soak shows evidence of healing athlete's foot according to Medical News Today. Dissolve 1/2 cup of baking soda in a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 15 to 20 minutes twice a day.
Athlete's foot doesn't have to keep you down, and you don't have to spend lots of money on over-the-counter remedies. Try some of these simple fixes and see if one is a winner for you.
