1. Petroleum jelly. One of the best ways to heal cracked heals is to put on a layer of petroleum jelly at night when you go to bed. Cover your feet with cotton socks and sleep on it. The jelly will trap moisture into your skin and heal the crevices quickly according to WebMD.
2. Honey. Honey has proven to be effective in healing wounds on the skin, according to the U. S. National Library of Medicine, and sunflower seed oil is extremely good as a moisturizer according to Medical News Today. Beauty and Tips recommends soaking your feet in a mixture of lemon juice, sesame seed oil and honey. Trade out the sesame seed oil for sunflower seed oil to get a truly moisturizing and healing solution. Soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes and then rub with a pumice stone and rub in a moisturizer.
3. Baking soda and milk. Soaking your feet in a mixture of baking soda and milk to heal cracked heels appears to be the latest fad. DIY and Craftiness shares its recipe of 2 cups warm milk and a liberal sprinkling of baking soda. You are to soak your feet for at least five minutes in the mixture. Does it work? Well, WebMD cautions against soaking your skin in baking soda. It's an alkaline substance and can be irritating to sensitive skin. If you're looking for a soothing effect, you won't find it with baking soda. Medical News Today says that you may find more relief for dry skin through drinking milk than soaking your body in it. Will this harm you? Not unless you have sensitive skin. Will it heal your heels? You may just want to stick to more tried-and-true methods.
